Introduction

  • Well known as Agarwood, Woods of the God,植物中的 鑽石.
  • Scientific name as Aquilaria is resinous heartwood native to South East Asia
  • Aquilaria and other agarwood producing species are now listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Appendix II. 国际贸易公约濒危野生动植物物种
  • Forest tree, grows up to 40 meters high and 80 centimeters in diameter
  • Wild trees become randomly infected with some parasite fungi or molds and begin to produce Agarwood in heartwood due to immune response to this attack, <10% of wild mature Aquilaria tree can naturally produce resin.
  • Cultivated trees as young as four years of age by using inducement technique. In old days, accurate estimation of the quality and yield of such “Agarwood” is still a pending question, however site Research and Development, unique discovery has overwritten the statement by some agarwood growers.
